Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P problems booting up.

Hi guys, in need of some help regarding my rig.

As the title infers, the core of my system uses the "Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P" mobo.

When I turn the PC on at the wall it can sometimes take up to 5 minutes before I can actually power up the pc.

This has been getting increasingly worse as the weeks go by.

System specs are as follows;

Windows 10 Pro x64
ST31500541AS HDD
WDC WD10EZEX-00BN5A0 HDD
WDC WD30EZRX-00SPEB0 HDD
AMD FX-8320 Eight core processor 3.50GHz
32GB DDR3
2 x MSI R9 280X Gaming 3GB running in Crossfire mode.
ASUS XONAR D2X SOUND CARD.

Any help would be gratefully accepted as this problem is driving me nuts.

The PC works great once it is actually running by the way.

Well just came in from work and its taken nearly 15 minutes for me to turn the PC on, looks like I will just buy another motherboard as this is beyond a joke.

What exactly happens?

You press the power button and it turns on / off straight away?
Keep repeating until it eventually turns on?

If so, the issue is more likely the power supply.

When I connect the PC to the wall outlet and try to turn the rig on, nothing happens np matter how many times I press the power button.

I have a Blackberry phone connected all of the time acting as a clock on my work desk, only when the phone lights up can I actually start the PC.

Ordered another mobo to see if that cures it, if its still the same then maybe look at another power supply, fingers crossed it's not the PSU as it cost me quite a bit 💷💷💷💷💷.

So what you are saying is as long as the phone is light it will start every time? Have you tried to disconnect the phone and see what happens. It sounds like the phone is causing the problem.

Have tried it with the phone disconnected, all other USB peripherals unplugged, still doesn't want to to start until it's had about 10+ minutes. Have found its better leaving the phone connected as it serves as an indicator that it's ready to play ball 😄😄.

On the power supply does it have one of those switches on it where you switch it from 120 to 220? What power are you using. I know in some counties they use different power.

I'm just throwing thing out there. Have you disconnected the 24 & 8 pin plugs and use a jumper on the 24 pin plug to test the power supply.

Plugged the PSU (COOLERMASTER V1000) into a tester and it was working alright yesterday, turned the PC on when I came in from work and it started, after about 10 minutes that is, worked great as usual, but then I shut it down and tried to restart but now the PSU is completely dead 👎👎, won't light up any led's on the tester at all, so it looks like the PSU is toast, 😭😭. I've got a spare rig that will donate its PSU to see if that sorts it out, its actually the original PSU before I upgraded to the COOLERMASTER 😤.

Well it turned out to be a defective PSU, so bought a Corsair RM850X, and now the rig is working great once again, woohooooooooooo 😁 😁.
