790FXT-UD5P ethernet issue
« on: June 01, 2010, 05:07:58 am »
Hi

i've got an issue whereby, in Windows 7 the ethernet connections onboard will only connect at 10Mbps.
Updating the driver to anything other than the vanilla driver in windows causes there to be no connection at all.
i tested XP, which happily connected at 100Mbps

I've tried 2 different network cables, both had the same effect.
Have tried swapping which port on the modem, again to no avail.
Also tried forcing the speed setting to 100Mbps, to no avail.

would be very grateful for any other ideas/ solutions???

okay, oddly, it's now working..

previously i was running the F3k bios..
Last week i updated this to the F8h (beta) bios..
Just now i re-flashed the bios to F7.. and hey presto - the ethernet is now connecting at 100Mbps

go figure.   ::)

if its not some awful auto negotiation putting you on Half Duplex 10mbps
then it must be a bug in the driver.

from your posts I think you tried setting auto negotiation to 100, but just check all the options in hardware panels.

yeah, setting it has made zero effect, i'll have another look but i don't like my chances.
Windows's driver is what i've come to suspect aswell... really annoying that i can't install an up-to-date driver.
all else fails, i'll get a pci/ pci-e network card and hope.
