Phase Lights Gigabyte EQ45M-S2 Motherboard

Hi

I have a problem with my Desktop PC "Gigabyte EQ45M-S2 Motherboard" , first problem was that when it starting booting it started to make a continuous short beep noise , switched off then back on again and it loaded ok , Phase Lights above the Memory banks are showing from top to bottom where showing , Red/Yellow/Green/Green ,
My question is what are these LED's showing I did think they where for each Memory bank ! , but I removed one memory stick and the same 4 LED's where still showing ! .
