X58A-UD3R won't recognise SATA drives - non RAID
« on: May 28, 2010, 03:55:43 am »
Hi People,
I've built  a new system (i7 930, 6GB, etc) that's based on the X58A-UD3R.

When I started it for the first time it recognised my drives (60GB OCZ Vertex SSD and a 2TB WD) - I tried to install windows 7 but it went very slow and hang up 29% while 'decompressing files'.

I rebooted it and ever since it won't recognise my drives! I tried reconnecting them, playing with all the relevant SATA settings but Nada, it won't work...

Please advise, How shoudl I fix this? do I have a problem with the Mobo?

Many thanks,

First do a load defaults, then turn off pc and only connect the drive where you are going to install Windows on and connect it to SATA_1, the first one, only that drive for now.
Boot your pc and check if the drive is recognised, to make sure enter BIOS and check. If ok, boot up and load WINDOWS Setup. Once Windows is installed, turn off your pc, connect the next drive, enter BIOS and check if t is recognised. If so, boot into Windows and if all ok.. well then off again and connect the next drive should you have one.

Good luck
