Build went fine, posted fine with no errors. Installed windows 7 64 bit. Install went fine. Installed all drivers. Installed windows updates. Recognizes all components just fine. Cpu temps at 30c. tried to benchmark with Prime 95. Instant freeze of system. Rebooted. Ran Everest benchmark. Instant freeze. Rebooted. Try to install a game. Game starts to install for a minute or two then system freezes again.

Tried to see if its the hard drive. Removed drive and put in a different 1Tb drive. Installed windows 7 32 bit instead. Installed all drivers. Did not install any windows updates. Try to install a different game. System freezes. Updated to latest bios to F3 via Gigabytes @bios. Bios updates fine. Loaded bios optimized settings. Started windows. System freezes. Removed one stick of ram. Freeze. Remove that stick and tried the other. System freeze. Load fail safe settings. Saved to cmos. System freeze.

Bios are in auto settings for this board and are as follows:
Memory clock - x6.66 1333Mhz, (Ram sticker specs say 1600Mhz?)
System voltage Auto
Dram voltage control Auto= 1.500v , Ram specs say it should run at 1.65v but I can only go up in multiples of two so the max setting before going over is 1.640
Dram VIT voltage control Auto=0.750v
DCTS Mode= Unganged
DDR Timing settings Auto and detects at 9t,9t,9t,24t
Cpu Clock ratio Auto=3200mhz
Cpu Frequency Auto=200Mhz
System temp at 31c
Cpu temp at 31c

Speedfan reports idle temps as Temp 1: 30c
Temp 2: 24c
Temp 3: 80c <----- Read thats a bogus temp on this board.
HD0: 30c
Core: 25c
I even took off the heatsink, re seated the cpu and re applied new arctic silver 5 as well and temps went down from 34c to 26c idle temp so thats good.

So pretty much anytime I try to do something intensive the system either reboots or freezes. I'm on it right now on a fresh install but all I am running is firefox. I dont know what I'm supposed to set the cpu voltage at and the board wont let me set ram voltage to 1.65v.
<<EDIT>>: Its getting better but still not there. When I use to run Prime95 and start test in blend mode it would freeze instantly. Now it actually runs for 5 minutes then freezes. Also When I try to install Dirt 2 it would only go for 2 minutes then freeze. Now it installs half way then freezes. I changed the settings in bios to the following manually: Memory clock is at x6.66 which equals 1333mhz. System Dram voltage control is in manual at 1.6 volts. CPU voltage control is in manual at +0.075v equaling 1.4500v....Now what????

Hi,

First off, nice post, it really helps when someone makes the effort to give full info!

I'm not running your board but had similar issues on my 790XTA-UD4 with Corsair Dominator memory (CMD4GX3M2B1600C8). I think the problem was mainly due to BIOS and since the latest update, things have been much improved. My RAM is now running happily at the lower voltages (1.5 instead of 1.65) and the default timings

Like you I tried all manner of tweaks but now the only change to BIOS that I have made is altering the Memory clock to X8 (1600 Mhz) I have left everything else at their default settings. So I would suggest that maybe you try doing the same. Reset BIOS to optimized defaults and then just change the Memory Clock, leave everything else alone and give it a test.

I had similar problems when I first assembled my 770TA-UD3 system.

I was using OCZ Dual channel memory and had freezing problems. I found that by installing the RAM modules one at a time, the system would be fine with one stick of the memory - but the other would freeze unless I under clocked it to 1066. That module was faulty and a replacement memory kit cured the problem.

Might be worth a try, if the previous post does not cure.
