Hi All,
Finally got my new system up and running WIndows 7 Professional and it has been running perfectly for a few days now.
The system is:
1. Cooler Master HAF-X case
2. X58A-UD3R motherboard
3. 3x4GB Crucial memory modules
4. Zalman Utlra Quiet CPU cooler
5. Intel i7-950 CPU
6. XFX P1-850B-NLG9 PSU
The graphics card I am using is temporary (I'm awaiting the card I want) - it is a Gigabyte GeForce 8400 GS.
However, today I had an odd problem. I was working on my PC and stopped for dinner. About an hour later I came back and the system was sitting at the BIOS stage, displaying the BIOS splash page and did not boot. It had tried both CDs for a boot system (but there weren't). I thought something had happened to my boot disk, so put in the Windows DVD and tried again but the same result. Saw the two CD drives but didn't try yo boot. Rebooted and entered the BIOS to discover than none of the 3 SATA drives I have in were showing. Switched the system off and left it for about 30 minutes, retried and lo and behold the disks now show.
It was very strange as the CD drives are SATA and they showed up in the BIOS. Needless to say, it is all working now but I'd be interested in hearing if anybody has any explanation for this. Could there be a fault on the motherboard?
Many thanks
