Using SATA3 6GIG/s on X58A-UD3R rev1.0?
« on: August 12, 2010, 08:27:31 pm »
Hey guys.  I wanted to buy SATA3 hard drives and try and utilize the 6gb/s interface.  How should I hook the drives up?  On what port?  And is there any post work in the bios that I need to do?

Thanks for the help.

Firstly I wouldn't really bother. The board uses the Marvell 9128 chip for SATA3 and it doesn't perform as it should. It is no faster in reality than the ICH10 chip which is SATA2. If you try and use the RAID configuration it is actually slower. I don't think we will ever see the advertised 4x speed increase from SATA2 when using RAID0 in the SATA3.
