GA-970A-UD3P failed to start
« on: November 19, 2017, 02:22:52 pm »
Hi ! I have a little problem with my motherboard.
When I push the start button, failed to start. The fans spinning but no signal in monitor. I waiting a couple of minutes but nothing.
If then i press the restart button (when working), it starts normally. If i shutdown pc, and Clear CMOS, starts and tells me that bios failed and to choose Load defaults settings and then boot. Then works fine but only the first time. Then again the same problem. I use watercooling system and the temperatures are fine.
Any idea how to fix that ?

bios: 08/06/2013 | F1
cpu: amd fx-6300
ram: corsair

Greetings,
Thing to check or replace:

-Revert any recent changes to hardware
-Revert and recent changes to OS (system restore)
-Revert any changes made to or in BIOS
-Perform CLR_CMOS with mains disconnected, but battery installed
-Replace your MB battery

-Unseat / reseat all connections, cables, cards, memory modules, etc
-Probably not necessary to do the CPU
-Test and confirm health of your PSU

Often times, clearing the CMOS, cleaning the system with canned air and reseating everything can help with this, as long as there is not an underlying hardware issue.

I checked all that, and works fine all other hardware (cpu,gpu,rams,etc.).

No onboard video with this board for testing (too bad)...

BIOS
-Load set up defaults and save.  Restart, enter BIOS again and only change your boot order.  Does the behavior continue?

-What OS are you using?  Keep your current BIOS settings as above.  Disable Fast Start Up in OS Power Management.  Shut down.  Disconnect power to PSU.  Press and hold power button on the case for 20 sec.  Reconnect power.  Retest.  Result?

-Next question.  Are you using any type of display adapter between your card and monitor?  What display are you using, and how is it connected?

If the above doesn't yield something, I would test my GPU and PSU with different hardware to see if the behavior follows.  If those test ok consistently, its probably something with the board itself.
