h55m ud2h + i3 - no video
« on: July 08, 2010, 08:29:34 am »
Hi to all,
first post in this forum, unfortunately with a problem.
My specs are:
h55m ud2h (rev 1.0)+i3 530 + Kingston ValueRAM, 2x2GB Kit, DDR3-1333, CL9 + Silverstone Strider ST60F 600W. There are more components, but i am unable to post even with these only. The psu is connected to both the 24 pin and the 4 pin, which i assume is fine. When i push the ON button, fans start to spin, two phase leds are glowing and it seems to be working. However, there is no video output via the D-SUB to my monitor. Any suggestions?

thanks,
gaburko

Hi
Don't worry people only ever come on a forum when they have problems! ;)
Have you got a speaker/beeper fitted on the motherboard? If so does it make any noises? If not get hold of one and fit it(very cheap).

thanks for this Dark Mantis - no, i dont have a speaker - will get one and try.

Was wondering - could it be that because its revision 1, the BIOS might not be supporting the i3? Can someone confirm what is the default BIOS of a revision 1 mobo? F4 or below?

Well I have checked and the BIOS (obviously) starts from F1 and is now at F10 for your rev 1 motherboard. There is nowhere where it states it was updated to be able to use your chip.

I checked there as well -  i was asking if someone has the revision 1 of the mobo and remembers what BIOS version did it come with. The reason is that according to the website i3 530 is supported only from F4 onwards. Hence, if the default BIOS is F3, F2 or F1 - i am in trouble. If not - problem is not the BIOS ;-)

I would have put it the other way round but there you go. It would depend on when you purchased the board and how old the retailer's stock was as to what BIOS version your board came with originally.

Have you tried Clearing CMOS? Its right next to a SATA port with two pins use a jumper or screwdriver to clear it when power is off.

Check the CPU socket for bent pads & reseat the CPU.
