Wiping the Drive in Raid 0
« on: July 05, 2010, 09:30:09 pm »
I use the EP45-UD3P mobo and I currently have it set in a Raid 0 configuration. If I wanted to wipe my drive would I have to set it back to IDE or keep it in the Raid 0 setting? And once completing the wipe what would be the next step? Should I go to the BIOS and click on Load Optimized Defaults and then what? Thank you in advance for any help.

Hi,

If you are planning on keeping the RAID Array but want to erase the data on it then you shouldn't need to change any settings. If you are planning or have your OS on this Array, you will, of course, have to go through the original process of pre-loading drivers when you reinstall but you will not need to make any changes in BIOS.

If you are planning to change from a RAID Array and use your HDD's as single units then yes, it would be better to change the settings in BIOS to either IDE or AHCI.
