F12K doesn't address anything related to the issue you were experiencing. 

-Update CPU microcode SA-00295 to solve potential security vulnerabilities in CPU
-Enhance RAID AIC compatibility
-Fix CPU Vcore and power behavior
-Workaround beta BIOS to improve Kingston DDR4-2666 stability concern on some specific memory chip suppliers.

I thought the same thing. In away I hate windows 10. I can feel for him that he had to reinstall windows 10. I had computer I sold had a i5-7500T. Wanted to test a i5-6600 and windows boot manager wasn't there any more. Put the i5-7500T back in booted into windows. 

I was upgrading a AMD Ryzen and had to update the Bios to get a 5-3600 CPU to run. Had my fingers cross that I didn't have to do what he had to do. But it went fine too.
