GA-880GA-UD3H (2.1) - Support HDD Larger than 3TB
« on: February 12, 2021, 03:30:01 pm »
Hi, I would like to take your advice. I have an old computer, but I'm still happy with it.

Q1. Does the motherboard with this BIOS supports hard drives over 3TB?
Q2. Will the full capacity of this HDD be available?
Q3. Will it be possible to use it as a BOOT disk or only as STORAGE?

The higher models (revisions) of this MB have specifications for 3TB HDD support, but version 2.1 of this MB seems to have no information on maximum support or any limitations.

I currently have several drives connected, including the largest 3TB, it is correctly recognized.
I'm going to buy (replace) another 4TB or 6TB (WD Blue Series SATA3)

MB: GA-880GA-UD3H (2.1)
BIOS: Award F7
GPU: Onboard
CPU: AMD X6 1090T
Memory: Corsair 12GB (2x4+2x2)
Power suply: Corsair 650W
Overclocked: No
OS: Win7 SP1 64bit
HDD mode: AHCI
Full spec: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-880GA-UD3H-rev-21#ov

Thanks in advance for the support.

BTW. I already tried to find the information on this topic, BIOS specifications, etc., unfortunately the phrase F7 returns a tone of results for the F7 key instead of the BIOS version.

Greetings,
Only board revisions 3.0 and 3.1 support 3TB+ HDD's.

You board v2.1 will not.
