I Lost my old hard drive so need replacement, intrigued with the option to fit PCIE Riser card and a M.2 Board using the samsung or western digital device .
Will it take the new config . ?
MB is GA X58A Udr3 rev 1.0 Yes its old but functional and really runs quite fast.

Or do I play safe and just plug in new HDD.

Greetings,
Play it safe and use a standard SSD.

My Plextor AGT-512B1p PCXe-1 card works fine in my ancient 1366 Asus P6T. The board is like 11 or 12 yrs old. LOL

Just make sure you put a card for M.2 SSD's goes into a PCXe slot and not one of the small ones.

Plus the card does support NVMe SSD's. Just tested it on my Old Asus P6T. Got into windows there it was in This PC.

I Note Shadow spots reply and would normally agree but for £58 plus £6 fro riser card its seems a reasonable solution.

Might just try it ?
