Latest Realtek Sound Driver
horne65:
I managed to fix this problem by uninstalling the drivers and the registry entries but wanted to know if anyone else has this problem or if it is covered somewhere else?
I have the Aorus Ultra Z390 and the only audio options I get are 2.1 sound and no 5.1.
I have the Logitech z906 5.1 speakers connected through S/PDIF.
If as I have been told, Realtek no longer offer support for 5.1, is there a work around or alternative or should I just install a sound card as the sound on Aorus motherboards is no longer super doopa as we are led to believe?

--- Quote --- You have to fully uninstall your audio yourself, remove the software install and the drivers from control panel / device manager and if you can prevent it trying to install auto on reboot, you will be able to properly install the drivers you are having the loop issue with.

#1 if you don't want windows to install any drives disconnect from the internet.
#2 What I would do is let windows to install the sound driver. Then install the realtek driver over the one that windows has put in.
#3 The thing is people get to bent out of shape on stuff like this. If I worried about the small stuff on drivers on my computer I wouldn't be enjoying it. 80% to 90% of my drivers are out date. If I'm not having any problems, I don't update.

and yes, before installing or uninstalling/removing Realtek audio driver, disconnect from the internet. then after installing or updating to new driver and rebooting, reconnect to internet.
Gigabyte seems to only put that little "disclaimer" for the realtek audio driver download for recent AORUS/AERO laptops such as aorus 17x 12th gen intel only but not for motherboards
