Well basically you won't see much in the way of performance increase but AHCI will enable you to hot swap your hard drives if it is supported.

Hi,

My personal opinion is that unless you want to set-up a RAID configuration or are going to want to hot-swap hard drives then don't use AHCI.

There are very slight improvements in some areas of performance that you will discover if you bench test things but in reality will make little to no difference to your everyday computing experience.

Also, in Native IDE mode you will not need to add extra drivers during the OS install.

Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

No I would agree, don't use it unless you have to.

Even though you are not using it I would just leave it alone. It is disabled anyway and if you uninstall it there is a fair chance that Device Manager will just find and install it again.
