If that is so then you need to look inside the case for the problem I think. Try rerouting any cables that carry data away from cables that carry data away from any power cables. How long has this problem been occuring, since new?

the problem has been there since i got the motherboard new i was able to get around it by turning down the volume on my Logitech Z4 volume control and cranking the system and application volume, however my new headsets volume control changes the system volume and this does not change the volume of the noise.

No I couldn't hear any noise at all apart form the bump at the beginning. That was with the sound turned right up too.

Ok bummer that was trying to record the sound coming from the speakers, its a heap more noticeable coming from the headset, but its still there in the speakers so i know its not the headset that is the problem

As I said just now it is probably to do with the wiring runs. The only other thing that springs to mins as a possibility is the fans. Try putting your finger on the centre of each fan in turn to stop them and see if the noise abates. It could be one of the fan motors that is causing some feedback through the system.

No, I too can't hear anything from your recording!
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

stopping the fans does nothing, there is nothing more i can do about wiring runs i have one huge run of power cables and one big run for data cables,  both separate the only data cables i have in my system are 2 SATA cables and an IDE (old i know) i don't see how these could effect the sound as its all a long way away from any audio cables/wires, back or front jacks don't change anything either. could it be the Power Supply its self as my case has the PSU mounted at the bottom and that's pretty close to the Audio Chip?

Yes quite possibly. If you can remove the screws so that it is free you could try moving it and see if that makes  a difference.

still no good running computer with the PSU practically outside the case. would a new sound card fix the issue?

Sometimes with the onboard sound the circuits can pick up a bit of noise from other circuits on  the board, so it quite often will help to have a dedicated sound card. Just make sure that the slot you are planning to use is free from obstructions.
