Same here. I thought it was just me.  :-\

I would say one long and two short. Monitor or graphics card error. Have you tried swapping out your GPU as I suggested? just occurred to me it would be worth just checking the cable on your monitor, bent pin, broken continuity etc.

At least that will prove or disprove the GPU as the culprit.

I'm not sure it will. which is my fear. I am afraid it is actually my monitor (even though it happens with LCDs aswell) and I'll have to replace it. I really need CRT and not LCD...

Yes it's getting hard to source CRT monitors nowadays. How about a big, widescreen plasma instead ;D Gaming on a 50" screen! Can't beat it.

Yes make sure that you give it a good test before removing it. At least that looks like your monitor is ok ;)

It is possible but the quality of the picture was too poor to tell. If you can take a macro shot I will have a look.

well I got a new GPU today, Same model - Saphire ver.
new problems...
my father and my GENIOUS brother decided they'd surprise me and install the card by themselves. of course i didnt know about this.
apperantly windows 7 keeps restarting explorer now everytime i use the search tool and it reports 8 problems with the GPU (the ATi one)
SO, i tried to uninstall the old GPU drivers - error.
tried to go into the device manager - ERROR
booted into safe, waiting for it to fix the "disk errors" (yes they cold-restarted the computer one time...)
FOR GOD SAKES why the hell did they touch it... what should i do???

Always difficult when you don't know exactly what they did. Did they even take any anti-static precautions?
You could try clearing the CMOS again and start from scratch I guess. God save us from people that help! ::) Would really need more information to make a good call.
