Water cooling

Water cooling
« on: July 28, 2010, 02:19:21 am »
Hey guys i have a NZXT M59 classic mid tower, and with the vid card im getting i am interested in liquid cooling. I do not want to spend a S**t ton on a system but i do not want cheap either. What would be a decent but worth the money and not a lot of cost for a socket AM3 for phenom II x4. Also the video card i will be cooling also will be a radeon 5770.

Edit @ 9:22 EST : I am a newb to water cooling  ::)
Edit @ 9:25 EST : I found http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835106077 on newegg. Looks decent, But i really do not know if my cpu is K8 series, i really do not think it is...lol
Edit again @ 9:33 EST : All the water blocks i se are for am2/am2+ or 1377.... is there any compatable with AM3

Sorry to pour cold water ;D on your idea bigdave but what you were looking at there would be of no real use to you. I know that you said you are a noobie to watercooling but you need to start right. If not you will just be throwing your money away and would be better off staying with air cooling. This kit would be ok(just) to watercool your CPU but certainly not your graphics card as well! I would advise you to do some research into proper liquid cooling systems before you jump in. I am more than happy to help you with any advice etc. Have a google for some watercooling sites over in the states and see what is available. This is one I use regularly that I am sure will give you some ideas.

Yep, i actualy checked out hardforum, and i am an active member there, but currently the site is down. I also may have misworded my origanl post. I only plan on doing cpu cooling thus far. But i wan the option to vga cool with the same gear later on. I found decent gear on performance-pcs.com But that being said i do not exactly what to get. I found a water block for AM3, a radiator,12V pump, resevoir and uv reactive tubing  ;D but other than that i am stumped.

Well you seem to have it all sorted there really apart from the fittings which are usually extras. As I am sure you already understand it is just a cooling circuit that you have to build. The only other thing you you will need is a decent fan for your radiator. I would suggest something like a Sythe Gentle Typhoon or similar, they are nice and quiet but still move some air.

As with most things you get what you pay for. EK, Swiftech, DangerDen, Phobia, Laing,  there's just too many good makes out there to list. A good place for looking around but not for purchasing for you because of location is http://www.aquatuning.co.uk/
