GA-MA790X-DS4 F6 BIOS NO DUAL GANGED MEMORY SUPPORT

Hi,

After upgrading my GA-MA790X-DS4 to the latest F6 BIOS I no longer seem to have the option to enable Dual Ganged memory support.

Any ideas?

have you tried to press CTRL+F1 keys when in main bios menu ? it enables hidden advanced bios setup features. then you enter MB Intelligent Tweaker(M.I.T.) --> DRAM Configuration --> DCTs Mode

also there is newer bios F7A available from:

I've entered the hidden advanced bios setup features. But in MB Intelligent Tweaker(M.I.T.) --> DRAM Configuration the option for DCT Mode is not there 

However reflashing with the F5 Bios and the DCT Mode option is there.

i don't know now but i may check. the problem is it takes time and you would need wait longer.

from my experience the descriptions of bios changes from the website are not listing all the real changes which were made

I've flashed my bios to F7C and the memory option for ganged mode is back.

Just a tad strange why they removed it from th F6 revision?

Since AMD does not support or guarantee ganged mode, they suggest to remove this feature in our bios, that's the story.

According to AMD - two modes in AMD CPU for memory interface:

1. Ganged mode - two memory controllers are tied to work in 128bit mode

2. Un-ganged mode - two memory controllers are working independently, but still can be treated as 128 bit mode.

Un-ganged mode is having better performance (overall), hence AMD suggests using this mode.

The “64 bit” indicates 64bit for each memory controller in un-ganged mode.

64 x 2 still equals to 128. So, in un-ganged mode, nothing is downgraded
