I checked pins, also photographed them in macro mode and then previewed them on my computer and they all seem to be ok.

Can you post the pictures please.

OK, here are pictures of CPU socket. I hope you can load them http://profile.imageshack.us/user/nvarga at 2010-08-06

This is what I have been doing so far:
1. in BIOS FA loaded Optimized settings, saved, reboot
2. QFlash Fb10 BIOS
3. Loaded Optimized settings, saved, reboot
4. Set manualy many setting (later in post), saved, reboot

Now it recognizes 6GB of RAM. Boot into Windows, tested, OCCT, it works.

Tried to sett recommended memory settings which I found here (tRC=tRAS+tRP, and so on - expert memory settings) which gave me BSOD in Windows immediately upon showing desktop - BSOD says Memory Management fault.

Changing all settings, nothing helped only loading Optimized settings, new flash with Fb10 BIOS, again Optimized, and then setting values manually. Now it seems to be working. I have to say - I replaced my old Asus Commando 965P and E6600 because it started to behave badly after 3 and a half years, so I decided do buy me a shiny new toy, but this what is happening is far beyond my wildest dreams. If I knew, I would have bought AMD.

Pictures are huge in file size, lol.

Any chance of making them smaller so I can download them, lol.

Any pics of the whole socket in view from straight over the top of it? With lower f-stop to thanks.

I have now tried ex58's suggestion and installed BIOS FB16. After 5 hours of operation and three deliberate reboots, the system is indicating 12GB all the time. This is very encouraging although, with years of experience, I'm not yet 100% convinced. What it does show is that without any reseating of memory or CPU, the BIOS upgrade alone has caused the system to now see all of the memory. This appears to support my original theory that it was never an actual hardware issue. I have my fingers crossed!

It is also my theory that this isn't hardware related, nor is memory incompatible.
Sorry I can't take new pictures because motherboard is in case and right now I don't have nerves to take it out once more  :)

I can't understand why CPU need 1,268V for normal operation on stock speed? Is it because of higher Uncore frequency?

Now it showing 6GB. I copied every last setting from XMS profile and entered it manual and it has problems. I can't change any of settings other than these I posted. If I do, i get BSOD at log on screen in Windows.

I think that I'm going to change memory. But Gigabytes memory compatibility list is very very bad and short.
I can go for Corsair 3x2GB TR3X6G1600C9 or Dominator TR3X6G1600C8D or XMS3 TR3X6G1600C8.
Also there is G.Skill Trident F3-16000CL9T-6GBTD and MUSHKIN RedLine FrostByte, 998805.

All of these are superb RAMs as this Ripjaws that I have, they are all stated to be designed for X58 chipset (is there any difference between X58 boards except additional equipment and power phases?).
What guarantee do I have that any of these will work with my X58A-UD5?!
They all are certified for whole range EX58, but neither is certified for X58A series.
And whats difference between this two? Only in additional SATA and USB chip?

AS I mentioned earlier I have been running without any problems at all with Corsair TR3X3G1600C8D kit. That is on the X58A- UD7 board but there is no difference to the UD5 in the respect of the memory.

I think I'll go for this Dominator kit, although I don't have very good opinion on them. Used Dominator DDR2 on my last setup and wasn't very happy.
And I have to pay additional 30 USD. And what if nothing changes after replacement?

I'm very mad about it because on this last system with 965 board, E6600, 4GB of RAM suddenly I got BSODs, changed component by component and after one month of frustration, I throw it all away and bought this I7 system. And now this...

I flashed Fb10 again and didn't bother with stock speeds. I set bclk at 191, CPU x19 = 3,629GHz, Turbo off, C1 etc is all enabled. CPU voltage is 1,25V, VTT 1,3, RAM 1,6V.
RAM multi is x9 = 1528MHz, set 8-8-8-24, XMP off.
Only thing that is different now is QPI PLL which is 1,2V (instead of 1,1V) and IOH core 1,14V (1,1V).
System is OCCT (both OCCT and Linnpack) stable. Min temp is 38'C, and Linnfield heats it up to 78'C.

Still can't believe it. Overclocking is solution for all my problems  ;)

Sounds like it is stable now. That's good that you have managed to find a solution which doesn't involve spending more money 8)

I have the same problem (6GB usable 4GB coldstart) but with X58A-UD5 rev1.0 and Corsair 6GB (3x2GB) 1600MHz PC3-12800 CMX6GX3M3A1600C9
Is it "safe" to update with a beta bios and use @bios for the update?

In my opinion no! Update to the beta version by all means but use QFlash not the @BIOS that works from withjin the Windows OS. It is far to risky and if something happens you are left with an expensive door stop.

Thank you for you fast reply!

I used Qflash for the update and all good so far.
Showed 6 gb last coldstart.
