Hi,

I'm sure this might be answered somewhere already but I could not find it so maybe not. I have a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P mobo with an EVGA GTX260 video card. I have the 2 pin connector going from my mobo SPDIF-O to the video card. I then have a DVI to HDMI converter that has an HDMI cable hooked up running to my A/V receiver. All I can get is 2 channel audio. I have tried the HD audio software and have tried using all of the digital audio ouput settings. Am I missing something? I tried the video settings and I don't have a choice for a resolution with HDMI with audio. I am using the onboard sound. Should I get a soundcard? Please help.

Thanks,

Dark Mantis

Hi and welcome to the forum. I have just been checking on the problem that you are encountering and as far as I can see the answer is in the manual on pages 111/112. If that doesn't cover your specific problem please post again. Sorry I can't help more at the moment but i don't use the card or output you do.

Hi,

I finally discovered that my video card only supports 2.1 through HDMI/DVI. You need a true HDMI port on you video card to output more channels. I found that the DVI port will only pass 2.1 channels of analog audio as well, same issue as the first sentence. It would have been simple to put this capability on such a high end card (at the time) because the technology and the support was there. Oh well.

Thanks everybody,

You're welcome. I agree with you about the penny pinching that companies do especially when it is on good quality products. Absolutely stupid. ::)
