and find there is no way to over clock the cpu's .... now when i look in my system it says 2.50Ghz and i know it can do so much more, in my bios there is MB Intellegent Tweaker but that only has cpu voltages, there is no way to change the frequency?

I have flashed the bios and all went well but still no option for cpu frequency, i also tried pressing ctrl+f1 and that done nothin at all.

My system is as follows.

Windows 7 (64 bit)
4GB 800mhz DDR2 RAM
800 Watt Psu
1 x 1TB SATAII HD
And the gamer bundle as shown above

Can anyone help me please? I have tried every tool around and none of them work, half of them do not even boot .. lol

Systool = Driver not found
Mostly all other = Not supported on this system
Amd overdrive cannot detect AMD 7 series chipset

I appreciate your time thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Personally I have never heard of a Phenom 8850 X3 but this is not really my area and no doubt absic will know a lot more and be able to help you when he comes on. Well after a quick google I am enlightened. The only thing I can't understand is that according to the Gigabyte support site that motherboard doesn't support that processor. ???

Hi there,

Like DM I am a bit puzzled about this and have been unable to confirm that the CPU is actually supported by the motherboard. However, it could just be an error on the Gigabyte website.

As a matter of interest, is this the upgrade bundle that is available from Maplin?

Hi

I did some more digging but I haven't been able to come up with an answer for you, sorry.

The fact that Maplin are selling these kits would imply that the components are compatible and so, there should be no reason why you can't overclock the CPU. But the only information that I can find seems to indicate that the CPU is not supported by this motherboard.

Unfortunately I do not work for Gigabyte so I do not have all of the information regarding the mobo/CPU combination and the only thing you can do is raise a question with Gigabyte Tech Support to see if they can solve the problem. This can take several days for an answer to come through.

I have used Maplin for many years for electronic components but I wouldn't consider them for computer parts. Firstly their prices are not as competetive as some of the dedicated companies and they don't really have the computing side covered as well as the rest. Just my thoughts. ;)
