GBYTE GA-P55A-UD4 USB3 MOBO Phase LEDS on and off
« on: September 10, 2010, 01:57:11 pm »
Hi all,

I recently bought the above mentioned motherboard and since then I’m having a nightmare getting it POST. I got Intel i5 750 2.66GHz processor socket 1156. For the processor thought the motherboard would be best suit.

Assembled everything together and the first time i got it power it on; all the phase leds on the motherboard will light up for 2 sec and goes off. When it lights up the cpu fans goes on as well. So basically the power supply to the mother board is intermittent. So suspected the PSU; tired with spare 500W PSU which I had, the same result. The initial PSU which was tried was 700W.

I really can’t understand the meaning of phase leds going off all together once and off again and the cycle keeps going. Nothing to be displayed on the screen.

So later tried just with CPU, MB, RAM & PSU. The same result. Please please give me some tips on what might have gone wrong. I always wanted a nice PC. And this was first attempt after 2 years to upgrade my current PC. And now problems :(

Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum.
The LEDs coming on and then going off again is a normal part of the POST process. Can you list all your hardware and then perhaps we can determine what the actual problem is.

Basically your system seems to be fairly well ballanced.
The first things to check are your power sockets. Have you made sure that youi have good connections with the 24 pin and 8 pin motherboard power supply sockets? Secondly have you used thermal compound for the CPU/heatsink installation? and fan connected?

I've connected the 24pin but the 8 pin connector.   -- from my PSU i dont have a 8pin connector. This means i need to buy a 6 to 8 pin molex connector?
And i've got the CORSAIR H50 CWCH50-1 INTEL/AMD instead of the CPU fan.

Would that do?

Thanks

Your PSU might have the connections as two x four pin blocks instead. Either way this 12v power cable needs to be connected for the computer to work.

The Corsair H50 should be fine as long as you used some thermal compound(or there was a ready made paste on the back of the pump).
