help please

Hello all,

I have just purchased a GA-MA770-UD3 motherboard. I have put it in my case but it does not power on. The power LED does not come on but the fan led's come on really DIM??? I purchased this to replace my ASUS M2N-E SLI which had developed a fault with the network port. I sometiimes had issues turning that on also and the fan led's used to just flash very quickly but not boot. I have a 600W OCZ GameXstream PSU.

Before I spend another load of money on a new PSU can anyone suggest something else to try?

silly question but have you connected the motherboards 8 Pin ATX power cable near the CPU as well as the 24 pin motherboard connector?

If the answer is yes, could you post back with your build specs?

yes I have plugged the 4+4 in.

sorry but could you confirm your CPU? Is it the AM3 Athlon X2 600E or the AM2 Athlon64  6000+
Also what revision number is your motherboard?

my processor is AM2 Athlon64  6000+
motherboard revision 2.1

As Dark Mantis has said, it would be a good starting point to check your PSU as the symptoms you are describing would seem to point in that direction.

Do you have a motherboard speaker attached, so that you can hear the POST beeps? If not it would help as the beeps can indicate several problems.

tried the PSU test and i can get any of my fans to come on. Guess the PSU is knackered

It does sound like it if you followed the instructions carefully. At least that is an easy answer.
