Hi
Problem fixed mobo screwed and now in the bin.
Talking into the tech guy who sorted it raised an interesting thought.
Well he says he has had loads of boards in with the same problems as I had, and they all have the same thing in common, ie all the power tracks to the cooler had urnt out!!
Yes I know we all have these wonderfull PSU's that can deliver massive amounts of power. but the problem is the mobo PCB tracks can't handle the current.
Everyone that he has done so far have had really high power fans in the coolers, and basically the PCB track can't handle the current load.
I suppose most people(me included) plug into the CPU fan socket, wrong, this is only OK if you are using a stock fan cooler. He advised that if you want to use a high power cooler take a feed straight from a spare from the PSU. Yes the fan runs at max all the time but so what!!
I'd rather it did that than over a period of time burn out the motherboard.
He maybe right or wrong, but is anyone else aware of the potential problems that can occur, not necessarly an immediate problem, but one that could occur over a period of time.
