X58A-UD7 Rev 1 Bios XMP Profile Problem
« on: September 10, 2010, 10:37:53 pm »
Hey Mantis
Thought it be best to start a new thread on this.

I'm running CorsairTripke 6GB DDR3 memory, it seems as soon as I select the MIT section in the Bios then change the memory XMP Profile from Disable to Profile 1. Save, reboot Win7 logo shows when booting and then it justs sits there forever.

Memory is Corsair TR3XG1600C8D
Intel i7 920 D0, Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD7 Rev 1.0, 6 x 2GB Corsair 1600 C8, Antec P182 Case, EVGA 8800 Ultra H20, EVGA 8800 GTX H20, Enermax Infinity 720W, EK X58A-UD7 WB, Swiftech Extreme WB, Win7 x64 Pro, 2x Samsungs 22" LCD's, 1x WD 74GB Raptor, 1x WD 250GB, 2x WD 500GB, 1x WD 1TB, 1x WD 2TB, 1x DVD

OK that's alright then, just you missed out the 6. I know it doesn't seem like much but it can make all the difference in the world.
I double checked and the kit is recommended for this board. I can't understand why if that's the case it won't run on the XMP setting as it should. The only logical explanation is that the modules are not meeting the standard. They work well enough at the lower setting  but fail when pushed to their supposed rated speed. I think if I am right the only thing is to RMA them.

XMP is almost always going to fail, especially if you are not at 133 Bclk.

There is no way a pre-programmed set of settings can guess what your specific CPU needs, you need to set things yourself manually.   Set the uncore to 2x the ram multi or above 1-2, then set your ram voltage and timings, then you will need to tinker with QPI/Vtt until you find what is stable for your CPU

God has spoken!
He is of course right although I wouldn't necessarilly agree about the failure of XMP as I have had success most times with it apart from when overclocking.

To the op , are you running the F7 bios as your issue sounds the same as mine ( have same memory as well ) , if so see if going back to F6 fixes this for you and let us know . I'm still dealing with tech at the moment but am stable on F6 for now ( this is version my board shipped with ) .

Yes it's exactly the same motherboard and memory I am running. I am using F7 at the moment but have tried several different ones since the original F6 that my board was shipped with. I haven't had a problem with any of them regarding hardware performance.
