I don't know if it's safe or not, but setting QPI/Vtt to 1.75V is not enough power

Just for the record, there is still one topic that has not been solved.
The whine noise of my PSU when the computer sleeps, or when I use hardware acceleration in Firefox 4 Beta or IE 9 Beta, or when I move or zoom in a picture using Windows photo-gallery or Windows Live photo-gallery. Further testing showed that my PSU doesn't make any noise under my old computer, and my old PSU (Corsair HX 620) does the same thing under my new computer (note that the GPU is the same between system. and I mean SAME - I switch it between systems). The only difference between both system is the motherboard.

So it kinda sucks... hidden my computer in the side the corner of my room under the table seams to create a barrier which hides the sleep whine issue, but not enough for the whine when I use hardware acceleration web browsers, or Windows photo gallery.

I know that probably their is no fix.. but I like to leave it there for Gigabyte to check it out on their next motheborards.

Hopefully there might be a fix on the horizon. At the moment runn3R has been taking in UD3 motherboards that make this whine and having some hardware fix done and he has said that as long as it is successful the other boards will folllow. So just keep an eye out for any news.

I read about it, hence why I avoided the UD3R model (beside I like the extra feature of the UD5, and how it lights up like a Christmas tree when you turn on the computer.

The thing is I know many complained about the power features of Intel is disabled in the updated BIOS fix... I for one, don't care. It would have been disabled in any case. My CPU is already at ~37 degree C with my Noctua heatsinkand down-volting, so why bother? If they made progress.. any progress, which could possibly and hopefully mean that a reduction of the whine noise in some of the cases I have, is welcomed, on my side.
Oh well. Hopefully it's soon, or at least release the best they have, and not ignore the whole situation.

I agree. I watercool my system so I turn all that powersaving stuff off anyway. Actually more problems than most people realise come from the power saving modes.
