problem on Gigabyte GV-N460OC-1Gi blackout for a few seconds during games!!

Dear all,

two weeks ago i replaced a 8800GTS with a Gigabyte GV-N460OC-1Gi, hoping to gain some better performance while playing NBA2K10, metro2033 etc.

However, usually after 20-30 mins playing 3D games like the ones i mentioned above, the screen would turn black all of a sudden (it is like someone turned off my monitor) for 5-10 seconds(and I noticed that during the blackout, my HDD light was flashing), after that, it became normal again, and after a while, it happened again! so annoying!

Until yesterday i went to the official gigabyte website and saw there is an BIOS update:  F3 2010/09/27.   But unforturnately! when i use @BIOS to tryiing to flash the BIOS, it gives me an error: "The BIOS Version not match!!!" (this is my current BIOS version: 70.04.1B.00.02)

Anyone encounters this problem? and anyone gets a solution?  >_<  help me........

FYI, my PC config is as follow:
 - mobo: ASUS P5Ke wifi/AP
 - RAM: 6 GB ram (kingston DDR2 800)
 - CPU: Q6600
 - OS : win 7 64bit ultimate
 - Antec 550Watt Power supply ( i only have 1 HDD, so that should be enough watt)

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.
Firstly DO NOT use the @BIOS utility. It is far more risky than using the QFlash program via the BIOS. Flashing through the OS has always been more troublesome and there is a much greater risk of "bricking your board".
If you would like to post the model number and revision of your motherboard we can try and help with the BIOS update. ;)

Hi and thanks for the information. However I notice that you have an Asus motherboard and not Gigabyte so we cannot help much here. I also help on the Asus forum and if you input your motherboard model here you should find someone to help you. Sorry but it wouldn't be correct to help you from this forum.

I would like to add that now that you have listed your hardware the PSU is too smal for the system and you should be looking at one of at least 700W preferably with a single 12V rail.

Come back here after you have updated your motherboard's BIOS.

Dear Mantis,

Thanks again for your info. However, i'm pretty sure it's the problem of the Gigabyte-460OC-1Gi and could you teach me how to flash it's BIOS if not using @BIOS?

Becasue I saw there is a post in this forum in which the poster also had this problem, but lucky he could have his BIOS flashed to f3. For me, i'm not so lucky because @BIOS won't allow me to flash my BIOS to the latest one.

my current BIOS is f10 version.

Thanks and i hope u can help me on that.

OK in that case I would still stand by what I said earlier about the PSU not being big enough but to flash your GPU's firmware (BIOS) you can follow the instructions in this link:
