GA-H55-UD2H doesn't recognise sata SSD and HDD together
« on: April 11, 2012, 01:55:32 pm »
Hello

I have bought a Corsair Force 3 SSD in a final attempt to build a stable Windows 7 system (previous attempts fail with random BSOD - all components have been tested so I am trying a new drive). When I connect the SSD and set it to ACHI it works although the ACHI page after the initial BIOS page reports some BUS error. I have Windows 7 on the SSD and it appears to work ok.

So the next step was to add the old sata HDD drive back into the system. It has a previous Windows 7 build on there which I want to wipe and just use the HDD for storage, paging etc. However, when I add the HDD the SSD does not appear in the boot order list and the only thing that will boot is the HDD.

I have had a look at the Gigabyte BIOS updates and none seem to address any SSD issues so I am reluctant to go that route if there is a solution that is more obvious.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Thanks

Mark

Hi,

Well I think the best thing to do is to disconnect the SSD and then put in your Windows disk and use it to format the drive. You can then connect up the SSD and hopefully now Windows will see it an boot from it. You can then sort out your SATA drive as a data drive.
