Updating the GAEP45-UD3P v1.6 BIOS
« on: October 16, 2010, 11:29:21 pm »
I have the ep45-ud3p v1.6 Gigabyte motherboard and I just updated the BIOS to the FFb Beta version. Since then I've been getting BSOD periodically. What can in do to? I used a floppy to install the update twice but I keep getting the BSOD. The FFb update really increased my performance and made everything run a whole lot better but the system isn't stable now. Can someone help me with this please?

Well if it is just a glitch in the BIOS routines there is not much you can do about it apart from let Gigabyte(GGTS) know and wait for it to be re-written. However it might be something that has changed and you haven't set the BIOS up right. The first thing to do would be to google the BSOD code that is given and see where that points you.

Okay, Thank you Dark Mantis. I'll probably just wait until the final FF version comes out.

Ok but it is always better to let GGTS know of these problems to make sure they fix them in the next update and they are not missed. ;)

Are you stable?   Have you tested with several programs?

You can't always use Auto, or your previous BIOS settings in a new BIOS.   So you may just need to tweak things a little bit again to be stable.

If you are not testing for stability then you need to, as it may have nothing to do with the BIOS itself only your settings or lack of if you are using Auto.

You could very well be correct Lsdmeasap. I hadn't really checked for stability as thorough as  I should have. I will try different things and use some manual settings to see if that will make a difference. Also this BIOS was an update for the usage of the SSD drives mainly but I was told it would be okay to use even if you weren't using the SSD drives. I've never used the new SSD drives just yet. I was kinda waiting for the price to drop silghtly which maybe a longtime coming.
