UD GA-X58A-UD7 Rev 2, stalling on LOGO, Keyboard non responsive
« on: November 09, 2010, 06:34:49 am »
Greeting's folks.. This seems to be the right place to vent my frustration and trouble ^^

I just, at last, upgraded the most vital stuff in my puter:

UD GA-X58A-UD7 Rev 2
core i7 950 cpu
6Gb's Kingston HyperX t1
850W PSU(I'm thinking thats enough for  this settup, or hoping anyway)

And my aging ASUS EN8800GTS, and my -stoneage-  Maxtor harddrives SATA

So, i got my gear installed and hope for happy gaming, but nay...:

When i boot it stalls on LOGO screen, being non responsive to my keyboard. i.e. i don't even get to enter the BIOS let alone anything else...
On powering up, the LEDs on my keyboard flash briefly, indicating connection(PS2), but that's it, stops on LOGO, not letting me check out POST or anything.

The LED number on the mobo itself stops/stalls/errors on 75, detecting IDE the lists tells me... But my older hardware should not be faulty, they run fine on my previous(very outdated) system...

Any helpfull suggestions would be most apreciated...

Cheers

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

After reading your account of your upgrade I take it that you are still using your old hard drive as it was. If this is the case you will need to format it and then reinstall Windows so that it recognises all your new hardware. It will also make your new computer run much faster like you want.

Start by clearing the CMOS and then loading optimised BIOS defaults.
If you are using a USB keyboard you will need to enable USB Legacy Devices too.

Also remove all your CD/DVD and hard drives, and then see if you can post to the BIOS or not.   If you can, then add things back one at a time until you find the problem.

It would also be great if you could borrow another PCIE card just to rule that one out as part of the problem, or even an old PCI graphics card would work as well if you have one laying around.

What brand and model PSU is this?
