GA-P31-DS3L - CPU upgrade question
« on: November 18, 2010, 04:52:18 pm »
Hi and welcome All :)
So I decided to upgrade my system for the new Call Of Duty: Black Ops. I have the  GA-P31-DS3L mainboard, the Dual Core E4600 CPU, 4gb of ram and a GT240 graphic card. The game runs almost smooth on lower details/resolution, but sometimes freezes or suffers low fps when I turn up the resolution (i prefer using the native 1680x1050 on my 22" monitor). So I decided it was time to replace the CPU - with a better cache and/or more MHz. My question is - what's the best option for me here? Can I put a better CPU in my mainboard? What would be the best fit here? Or do I simply HAVE TO upgrade my mainboard? Thanks for your help!

Welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

The better option for higher resolution gaming would be to upgrade your graphics card rather than the CPU as most of the processing for the games is done on the GPU not CPU.

However if you want to still upgrade the CPU you can find a list of compatible ones here:
