GA-P55M-UD2 & Megahalem

GA-P55M-UD2 & Megahalem
« on: November 19, 2010, 01:48:20 am »
Curious if I'm going to have any issues installing a Prolimatech Megahalem (rev b, with dual fans of course) onto my Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2.  I've got an HAF 922 case, which is just fine on clearance from what I've read.  The only question is if it will fit on motherboard without any challenges.  Any one have any info and/or tried it?

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

There have been plenty of other members on here running the megahalems cooler but I must admit I am not sure what boards they were on. I would advise you to do a search of the forum for megahalems and see what you can come up with.

It has been used with a similar board even with a nb next to it so yours should be no problem. I have used the Megahalem with several gigabyte boards with no issues. You also have the option to install that cooler in any direction.

I had your board but with a long graphics card I couldn't access the sata ports so had to sell it on. I used a monstrous noctua cooler on that with no issues.

The only problem members have in general with these motherboard/cooler combinations is that some of the heatsinks overhang the memory slots. Sometimes if you are using memory like the Corsair Dominators the top part of the memory heatsink can be removed to give a little more clearance. Of course if you are using a beast of a cooler like the Noctua NH - D14 then it is usually possible to raise the fan slightly on it to give a little more clearance.
