4X Raid O on ga-880ga-ud3h

Can anyone help me. I am trying to find out if i can use 4 Samsung Spinpoint F3's in raid 0 on my onboard sata controller. My questions are. Will this bottleneck? Or if i use a hardware raid controller, will this still bottleneck my pci bus. There is very little info on this subject on the internet. Also can i boot from this set up if using the onboard controoler? Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

There should be no bottleneck with 4xF3's, there would be a little bit of a bottleneck if you were running 4xssd's.  There is no reason why the F3 array setup not to boot.  A pci raid card is unstutable, what you really need is a pci-e, prefferably an 8x one e.g. LSI 9260 or 9211.

Gigabyte P55A-UD3 / Intel i5 660 / Gigabyte HD 4870x2 / 4xOCZ Vertex raid0 / Tagan 900w / 2x2Gb G.Skill Ripjaws pc3-12800.

Cool thanks for the info. I now hve 2 F3's set up in raid 0. Will probably get a couple more and put on there.  I read somewhere that you could only run 2 before it would bottleneck. That must have been on an older board. I think my sata controller can handle an estimated 6 Gbps, which will be more than i ever need. Thanks again for the reply.
