GA-81PE1000 PRO - G REPLACEMENT BIOS CHIP ?

i HAVE NO GRAPHICS whatsoever - the graphic card is ok in another machine. This fault appeared after fitting a PATA hard drive from another failed computer - whic h had the same 'no graphics' fault. I have removed the dodgy hard drive and refitted the previous good one bu the fault is still present ie. everything seems switch up but no graphics at all to the monitor. Question - has the Bios chip been 'blown'  and where can I get a replacement?

Well I would doubt very much that your BIOS chip has blown. I cannot find your motherboard model so perhaps you can check it out and post it again.

I would think that the first thing would be to do a hard CMOS reset. Remove the power cable from the PSU and then press the power botton on the case for ten seconds. Next remove the motherboard battery and leave it out for at least ten minutes before refitting. Replace the power cable and power on the machine. Load Optimised BIOS Defaults and save and exit. Reboot.

Thanks - the motherboard name is correct - I have tried the suggestion and despite crossing fingers , the result was as previously with no sign of any graphic output. apart from that - as if that wasn't sufficient -the only unusual indication  is the flickering power lamp.

When you try and boot what POST beeps do you get? I assume that you have a speaker/buzzer fitted.

sadly neither dud board has a buzzer or speaker fitted - If i get a speaker,  I asssume I can 'plug' it onto the mother board? ? and get the hoped for result? ?

Perhaps you would update your profile as you don't say where you are located but anyway if you purchase a buzzer is the easiest thing and it is a small piezo electric device that plugs directly onto the motherboard's FrontPanelConnector block. At the top right of it you will see four pins marked SPEAKER and it fits on the two outside ones. This will then let you know the BIOS beep codes as POST takes place.
