Hi there,

It would be better if you can get hold of the same make and type of RAM that you are already using as mixing RAM makes isn't always successful.

Although you could use the on-board  Graphics with your current Graphic Card you would actually be better off if you don't go down that path. The Higher Spec of the 4870X2 would actually be impeded by using the on-board GPU and you would also lose some of your system RAM if you decide to use it.
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

Hybrid CrossFireX on a 880G/890GX motherboard works with an ATI HD 5450 graphics card. Hybrid CrossFireX doesn't work with high-end cards like the HD 4870 X 2. Hybrid CrossFireX combines two slow graphics solutions for a not-so-slow graphics solution.
1) GA-Z97X-Gaming 7, G3258,
2) GA-990FXA-UD3 Rev. 1.1, FX-8350
3) GA-AM1M-S2P, Sempron 3850 Kabini
