Imma just copypasta what I sent to Gigabyte tech
I have been battling with this problems for close to half a year now. The general problem is that textures in certain 3D games flicker (either with a black texture, or no texture at all.) It doesn't happen all the time, even in the games that do have problems. The obvious solution for me was to RMA the video card, but this did not solve anything. Here is a little youtube video I created to show the problem (only happens during the first 5 seconds or so)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfi3tYuV1TEAnd here is a list on what I tried to fix it:
- Used a 700W power supply I know that worked without problems
- RMAed the Radeon 5870 TWICE
- RMAed the processor straight back to AMD
- RMAed this exact motherboard via Newegg
- Tried a Radeon 4850 and a GeForce 7950GT (The 4850 showed similar symptoms, while the 7950GT had the entire screen blinking and freezing)
- Switched memory brands from A-Data to Corsair
- Downclocked the Corsair memory to DDR3-1333, with looser timings
- Played with only one memory stick at a time (trying all 4 of them 1 by 1)
- Ran every system stability test I can think of....including, but not limited to: OCCT, Furmark, Heaven Benchmark, Linpack, Memtest86+
- Disabled AMD Turbo Core
- Increased all voltages slightly
- Disabled Cool and Quiet and C1E
In other words, I'm all out of ideas. I've read that there is a revision 2.1 of this exact same motherboard.....does that have the fix I am seeking? Other than that, I seek you help in hopefully finally be able to fix this small but very annoying problem.
