GV-N470SO-13I overheats. Is it faulty?
« on: December 21, 2010, 02:53:59 am »
Hi,

I just bought the GV-N470SO-13I graphics card less than a month ago. In the last few days, it starts to overheat. Even when I play a youtube video, it peaks over 95C temporarily before coming down to its idle temperature of around 60C. When I start Adobe Premiere CS5, the gpu temp starts to climb rapidly to 110C then it shuts down. This happens in less than a minute. This is a single card, single monitor in Green mode, no overclocking since day 1. My system is as follows:

Motherboard: Gigabyte P35-DS3P
CPU: Core 2 Duo E6750
RAM: 6GB Kingmax DDR2
PSU: Corsair HX850W
Graphics card: Gigabyte GV-N470SO-13I, bios version: 70.00.35.00.04

Is this card faulty? Is it enough reason to RMA?

I bought the card in Australia but currently reside in Vietnam and won't be back until February 2011. There is a local authorised distributor here but WILL they accept my RMA?

Thanks in advance for any advice or help.

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

From my past experiences with people trying to RMA in a country other than where they purchased the board they weren't very lucky. Gigabyte's normal procedure is that it has to be returned to the country of purchase.

It does seem that there could be a fault on the card but also it could be a reporting error. What program are you using to show the tempertures?
