« on: December 28, 2010, 08:04:53 am »
Hi,
I have a sad and strange problem my motherboard just wont accept more than 1 giga of ram.
my system info :
pentium D 820 2.8
I bought 2X 1gb kingston KVR800D2N5 RAM (ddr II 800 CL5).
i put just one of them and it works fine , i put two (dual channel 2x1gb) it goes up to the windows loading screen and than screen goes black pc stops thinking (the small light lamp doesnt change colors showing working proccesor).
I even tried to put 1 x 2gb card and same. it seems like the pc wont work with more than 1gb.
i hope u can help.
thanks.

Are you using the latest BIOS?

Have you tried other memory than the ones you just mentioned?

The board does support 4GB of memory, so maybe that memory is not compatible or you need to update the BIOS?

Hi , thanks for answering so fast .
my bios is FF version and the most current is FI i will try to update today.
u think it might be related to bios version ? though in bios update version they do not refer to RAM ..only improved LAN / Flash ROM support.
this model has dual bios + q-flash so its easy to update.
i have tried to put each of the kingston 1gb KVR800D2N5 alone in both slots the memorys are good both of them. it just wont work more than 1gb no matter if i put 1 memory of 2gb. and the kingston KVR800D2N5 is in the supported memory list published by gigabyte.
u think it is related to the operating system ? im using XP 32bit sp2.

Hi

It is definitely worth trying to update the BIOS to the latest version as often the issues that thr update address are not put in the info box.

Make sure that you do it via QFlash and disable Keep DMI Data on the QFlash homepage.

It is however quite possible that Lsdmeasap is correct in  that the memory is just not compatible.
