Sound problem with GA-EP31-DS3L
« on: July 25, 2009, 09:50:15 am »
The oddest thing.  The sound keeps 'dropping out' after a while. I've only just got it up and running from plain (reliable) old XP Pro and now have a dual boot XP Pro and Vista home premium.  (spit over your left shoulder when you say that!)
I've checked all the jacks and even run the setup disk again,  for a while it worked but then - gone.
I never had a seconds bother with just XP but I'm committed to Vista now and couldn't bear the thought of re-installing all the stuff I have.
Anyone have any thoughts?

Hi,
You could try vista trouble shooter to see if microsoft has a fix,
Is the sound giving the same fault as this in XP?
Just one other thought have you installed the sound drivers from the  Vista CD, driver CD,
The reason i ask is my mobo came with different driver CDs, One for XP and One for Vista!

Oh boy. Of all the stupid things!

I just bought a new Skype phone  and plugged it in the USB hub.  haven't had time to do anything more.  I just thought,  well,  why not and pulled the USP plug out and the sound nearly blew my head off!!!
Sound is perfect.   It's a good quality Altec Lansing outfit.

What do you think that was and can it be overcome?

Thank you indeed Pete! ::)
All i need to do now as soon as I get my defenders is to find out how to use the bloody phone without plugging it into the USB socket!

If I had a pound for every good idea I've had in the last 75 years,  I would be - - - - -
no worse off than I am today.

Well,  I'm 81 now so it would have been a wasted life if I'd had no sense of humour.  ;D
Mind you,  my late wife used to have to say to people who seemed a bit mystified by what I said. " Don't mind him, he's  got a warped sense of humour."  She may well have been right.
Anyway,  thanks a lot for the link which seems to be the answer.

And,  by the way,  it's OK to carry on breathing now.
