Question about RAID 1 setup

I have a GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R Intel Motherboard and I want to create a RAID 1 with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit already installed. Will this be possible because I do not want to have to reinstall everything. I have read the manual that came with my motherboard, I just haven't tried it yet since I just ordered my second hard drive on newegg. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Were you able to do this?  I have the same mobo with win 7 x64.  I want to set up a raid 5 but before I start this i need to buy more drives but i don't want to just buy more drives unless its possible to do this without needing a full reinstall.

I have P55A-UD4 and I first instal win 7 64 on HD after few days I bought another drive and put system on RAID 0 with gigabyte software XHD.

Yes agreed. That is one of the benefits of XHD that a RAID can be set up and then added to later. The only thing I am not sure about is whether the XHD would have to be enabled etc before the original installation of the OS.

The other thing I would mention is that even though it can be a bit of trouble  a clean install of Windows does mean that all the clutter and crap (technical term) is got rid of and a clean and faster dirve is left.

I didn't enable XHD prior instalation. I enable it in bios after I bought a new disk, but  it is important to load the drivers (F6 in XP) from diskete or usb key at the begining of the windows 7 instalation. Everything is nice explained in mobo handbook.
