GA-P55A-UD3R: Second KIT of DDR3 RAM causes Bluescreens

Hello!

For quite some time, I am running my P55A-UD3R with an intel core i5 750 (default settings) with 2x2GB G-Skill F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ RAM sticks (voltages set to AUTO in BIOS) without any problems (Win7 Home 64bit).

Last week, I plugged in another 2 sticks of identical RAM, making it 4 sticks (2GB each) of the above mentioned G.Skill RAM (I chose this RAM because it was on the list of supported RAM for my mainboard). But since I plugged this second set of sticks in, my PC started having bluescreens here and there. I have never ever had any bluescreen on this particular system before, and the bluescreens have vanished after I took the new stick out.

My question: after various rounds of memtest (which found no error), are those sticks broken or is it necessary to crank up the memory voltage in order to make them run?
I would normally think, such a KIT of supported RAM should work right out of the box without any manual tweaking.

I am thankful for any input.

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

The kit of memory would work straight oput of the box if you were only using one kit, but by adding another kit to it you are putting a greater load on the memory controller and therefore will  have to make some adjustments.

If you would like to list the default timings and voltage I will see if I can help you set them up.

Unfortunately, I am currently not sitting in front of this PC (using a notebook somewhere else), but this I can tell you:

9-9-9-24
DRAM-Voltage was set to AUTO in BIOS, and showed up at 1.58V
QTI/VTT is set to 1.1V
No changes have been made by me; I was planning to OC the system when I originally built it, but never did due to a lack of time.

I cant tell you more atm.
But thank you for your input, as I am trying to get as much knowledge before I send my new KIT back to the shop.

Well you need to manually enter the timings and set the voltage to 1.6v to start with.

Your QPI/Vtt should probably be a bit higher than that, somewhere between 1.2v and 1.4v. (bit of trial and error)

You need to make sure that your Uncore is set to twice your memory multiplier or twice plus 1 or 2.
