Ga ep35c-ds3r fans start3sec stops starts3sec stops then computer starts

I just built a computer and when i first push power button on case the following happens.

all fans come on for 3seconds and shut down

all fans come on again for 3seconds and shut down

system then boots and operates apparently fine.

This happens every time on a first start. If I hit restart from within windows it does not happen.

I have done no other tweaks to the bios other than boot sequence.

I checked with a tech support engineer at MICROCENTER  ( a large computer parts retail store in the USA)
and he thought the board may be confused about power manangement or temp, but he said not to worry about it.

Has anyone here had a similar issue?

Thanks

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte UK Forum.

This isssue that you are describing is standard to Intel motherboards with Dual BIOSes especailly  and also on some single BIOS boards. This happens when the BIOS is changed for any reason and it then reboots and reloads.

In your case this could be because of a faulty Main BIOS that is then using the Backup BIOS to reflash itself before restarting or for some other reason it thinks it has changed.

Have you updated you BIOS version recently ?

If so what program did you use to do it ?

Hi, Thanks for your response.

I have not updated the Bios.
I thought about updating to the newest version, but I did not want to do any upgrading or
tweaking until I knew what was causing this start up issue.

I figured the less things that I had changed would make it easier to answer questions.

Thanks

Fair enough. OK well first then we will do all the usual steps to sort this out. Starting with a clear of the CMOS.

Remove the power cable from the mains supply and then press the power switch on the case for a few seconds just to drain any residual energy in the PSU capacitors.

Once done remove the motherboard battery for at least ten minutes before replacing it.

Next plug back into the mains supply and boot.

You will now need to enter the BIOS by pressing DEL and load Opimised BIOS Defaults.

Make any other changes to the BIOS settings to suit your self like disabling the floppy drive, disabling the full screen logo and making the HDD the primary boot device and then press F10 to save and exit.
