P31-DS3L Audio problem
« on: February 25, 2011, 09:23:27 am »
 Hi !
I have a P31-DS3L motherboard with Realtek ALC888 codec, HD audio
I have recently upgraded my computer from XP to Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.After installing the latest drivers from Gigabyte site I noticed that my audio was gone(after configurating to 5.1 channel mode). I have done all possible checks (volume levels, device settings, install latest driver from Realtek) but the problem persists. I have inserted  one of the "line out" jack (rear) in "Mic in" connector and suddenly a had sound.I tried to swap the two remaining jacks but I got no sound on the other channels (center-sub and front) .If anybody else encountered the same problem and fixed it somehow please reply.

Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

Have you got anything plugged into the front panel ports of the case ?

Have you checked in Device Manager to see if the audio has a problem ?

The front pannnel ports are free. Device manager tells me everything is working properly. When  I play audio files using Media player and check the status of the audio manager it looks like sound is playing on all channels (on volume bar) but nothing on the speakers .I also set to maximum all channel sound level . By the way when I do the speaker test I have sound on all channels
  Thanks

So that would indicate that there is nothing physically wrong with the audio setup then.

If you right click on the speaker icon on the system tray and select Volume Control Options what device does it show as the default output ?
