Possible to run 1600 MHz Ram on H67M-D2?

I'm not 100% certain if this is the correct place, but here it goes anyway.

I bought a H67M-D2 mobo, temporary while waiting for new ones to hit the market. Now stupidly of me I did not notice it only supported memory up to 1333MHz. Although I've been told you should be able to run 1600mhz memory's at a 1333 MHz speed. Now since Memory really is not my area of expertise I'm asking here. How exactly would I run 1600 MH'z of ram at 1333MHz.

Memory Type:
Corsair VENGEANCE
Capacity: 8 GB, 2x4096MB
Speed: 1600 MHz
Latency: 9-9-9-24
Voltage: 1,5V

Sticking both Ram's in there will not work, fans boot up, shutdown, repeat.
Sticking 1 ram into the 1 Dim does not work.
Sticking 1 ram into the 2nd Dim works.(Leaving the first one empty) Allowing me to Access Bios.

Now would it be possible to run both memory's at 1333MHz? And Exactly how would I do that?

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

It should be possible to run 1600 mhz memory in your board it is just that the 1333 is the top JEDEC memory specification and so is not listed above that. Basically you will have to overclock the memory to go past that speed.

All this means is that you will have to enter all the timings and voltage manually into the BIOS.

I am just a little concerned that you might have a problem as the board should boot with the stick in the first slot DDR3_1. So I think a few tests are advisable first. Put the module in whichever slot works and download and run Memtest86+ as follows.

Insert one stick of memory in slot 1 and run Memtest on it for at least 10 loops and if there are no errors then swap it over with the next one and continue untill you have checked all  modules.
 
If you have any errors the module is faulty.
 
If you have any faulty modules you will have to return the whole kit as they are matched.

Post back when you have done that with the results.

Hi! And thank you.

I've just completed MemTest which did not return any errors.
Both my Vengeance Memory stick works fine.

I ran them both in the DDR3_2 slot, put the first one in, ran 10 passes rebooted, shut the computer down and swapped the memory

As I stated earlier the only slot I can start the computer is by using the DDR3_2 slot.
What happens when I put a stick into the DDR3_1 Slot is that the computer tries to start, (Fans receiving power etc..) but then "shutsdown" and 3-4 seconds later auto-starts, keeps running for a few seconds and then shutsdown again.
It keeps doing this for a few times (4-5) then it shuts down completely. Refuses to start (need to unplug/replug power to restart).

During the time the computer tries to start up I am not receiving any signals to my screen so I cannot access anything.

EDIT: This could very well be my motherboard being faulty, I will try and get my hands on a pair ddr3 sticks and try them to see if the problem persists.

It would be worth checking for bent pins on the CPU socket also.

Very carefully remove the heatsink and fan. Probably a slight twisting motion is best to release the two as the thermal paste can act like a glue.

Once off remove the CPU taking extreme care both physically and electrically(static) and place somewhere safe.

Make sure that the lighting is very good and even.

Now scrutinise the socket for any pins that are out of alignment, even slightly.
If in any doubt whatsoever take a couple of macro (close up) photos of the socket and post them on here for us to check.

Also look at the bottom of the CPU at the lands (little copper circles) and make sure that there is a mark in each somewhere near the centre.
If there are any missing marks or any of the pins are obviously bent then that is your problem.

Before refitting the CPU clean off all residue of the old thermal paste and the same on the heatsink and then apply a small amount (about the size of a grain of rice) to the centre of the CPU once it is inserted in the socket.
