Newbie 880GA-UD3H install

Newbie 880GA-UD3H install
« on: February 01, 2011, 02:34:46 pm »
Reviewed a number of posts and what a wealth of information.

Question:  I read somewhere that you should download files (drivers) off internet and not use disk included with the board.
Can I use the disk?  It seems that would be easier.  Can I update after using disk?

Which drivers do I load first?  Just want to make this build right.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Board is rev.2.2 and disk is ver.1.3

Hi

Yes you can quite happily use the disk and then update the drivers afterwards from the internet no problem. Personally though I would steer clear of installing the other utilites on the disk as they often have detrimental effects on other things.

Hi,

the reason we say to download the drivers from the Gigabyte website is because they are usually more up-to-date than the ones on the CD that comes with the motherboard.

If you are happier using the CD and then updating the drivers then that is also OK.

If you decide to download teh latest drivers from Gigabyte you can find them here: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3628&dl=1#dl you just need to pick your OS from the drop down box.

I have found the best way is not to use the install disk and to load each driver individually. Depending on what you are actually using my suggestion would be to:
Load AMD Chipset Driver
VGA Driver (only if using on-board graphics chip. If you are using a dedicated Graphic Card then download the latest drivers from AMD)
Realtek LAN Driver
USB3 Driver
Realtek Audio drivers.

It is also a good idea to reboot after you install each driver as this can pinpoint any problems that you may encounter.
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

Thank you Dark..

Any specific items to avoid loading or are you talking about applications?

Any advice on what to load?

Easy Tune 6
DMI Viewer
Face Wizard

Q-share
Smart recovery
Update Manager

Realtek Ethernet diag. utility
AMD Game
AMD Live
AutoGreen

I assume I need to install all drivers.

Install Windows first?

Thanks again......What a quick response and resource.
