I just completed a build with a newly acquired used GA-EP45-UD3R mobo and parts from a previous build (in which the mobo died).
+ CPU: Intel Q6600 (2.4GHz, 1066 FSB)
+ Memory: Crucial Ballistix PC2-8500 2 x 2GB (
http://www.crucial.com/store/partspecs.aspx?imodule=BL2KIT25664AA106A)
To verify the build, I ran Memtest86+ 4.10 for 12 passes (in 1+3 and 2+4 slots) with no errors, so that's good news.
However, I noticed that Memtest86+ reported a data rate of 4342 MB/s, which is half what I was expecting given the PC2-8500 rating.
Memtest86+ also reports my FSB as 266 instead of 1066, so I'm trying to take what it says with a grain of salt.
I double-checked my presumptions at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDR2_SDRAM#Chips_and_modules, which I also used to verify my BIOS settings. BTW, my BIOS settings are pretty much Auto or Default all the way, except to set the DRAM voltage to 2.0v as the Ballistix require. BIOS picked up the 5-5-5-15 timings automatically.
Are my concerns unfounded, or have I overlooked a BIOS setting?
Thanks!
David
