GA-880GA-UD3H No core temps reported
« on: February 06, 2011, 12:58:31 am »
Just installed AMD Phenom II X2 560 Black Edition and all went well except when unlocked cores all 4, no temp is reported.
I tried a number of programs but no core temps reported.  Turn it back to 2 cores and it reports fine.

It seems to run real cool, heat sink cool to touch on Hyper 212.  Got a little warmer at 3.5hz and 4 cores but don't want to push it without core temps.

Any ideas????

Install went great...

Hi there,

What programmes have you tried for checking your Core Temps?

Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

To put it bluntly - it's normal.

It's just one of the trade-offs with unlocked CPUs. Just use your CPU temp when overclocking. Phenom II CPUs overclock properly till about 55 degrees and that's below their max temp which for quads is about 65 degrees.

All in all, I think you'll be fine up to about 1.45v on the CPU.

Thanks for the replies.  It does appear that this is quite common.
I used a number of programs incliding AMD overdrive, speedfan, real temp and others.

I have had it up to 3.8 and ran Prime 95 for 30 minutes.   It seemed that the video chips got hotter than CPU.
I do not have a cooler on video chips.

I got lucky with a good chip.

Thanks again.
