GA-E350N-USB3 cooling needs

I've read that the GA-E350N-USB3 won't need the heat sink fan if the case is large enough for convection cooling.

I work at a radio station and would like to see the specs for a 'proper sized' case for convection cooling.
At our studios, a non fan computer will allow it to be in the studios, instead of placing a fanned unit in the back room with a KVM extender.
Also a chassis with rack mounts if possible.

I know the Asus E35MI-I Deluxe is marketing as not needing a fan, but I am partial to Gigabyte products.

Any input would be appreciated.

Hi there and welcome to the forum.

Being totally honest I don't know anything about this set up but I think removing the heat sink fan would not be a good idea, especially if you are then going to try and mount the board in a Rackmount unit with no other means of assisting the airflow.

I used to use a 4 unit Rackmount Chassis for a multi-track mobile recording based PC and obviously noise was an important factor when considering the build. I used a passive cooler for the CPU and 3X120MM Noctua fans to help with the air cooling  I also used a Passive PSU which meant that I got good airflow but minimal noise.

Looking at the cooling design unit on this board it is actually used to cool two chips rather than just a single CPU and you might get away with not connecting the cooling fan but then you would need to make sure that enough cool air passes through the Rackmount unit to keep things at an adequate temperature.
