P67-UD3 wont recognize my hard drive
« on: February 13, 2011, 02:36:27 am »
Hey guys, I have a quick question for you. I have an i5-2500k and Gigabyte P67 UD3 board that I am having problems with. I have it set in AHCI mode with my OCZ SSD running windows. I just bought a seagate HD to use as storage but I cant get it to show up as a drive. It is recognized in the bios as a drive and also in device manager but nothing shows up in my computer as a usable drive. Ive set it to IDE as well but no luck. The ssd is set to the SATA 0 and seagate set to SATA 1 slots (both 6mbps).  Disk manager also does not show this drive but it is seen in bios and device manager.  Disk manager only sees my SSD and this thing that says system reserved (100mb)

Can someone give me a hand?

Thanks

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

You will first need to change the setting to AHCI as that is best along with your SSD. Then try going into Disk Manager and see if you can import the drive.

What port do you have it connected to, and is that controller enabled in the BIOS?

If the controller is enabled you should see the disk in disk management or device manager no matter what, so it may be a DOA disk if you do have the controller enabled.

The disk wont show up in your my computer until you initialize it in disk management, and assign it a drive letter, but you should see it in the above mentioned things no matter what as long as that motherboard controller is enabled.
